How do I track my immersion with Native Materials?

So you've just read a chapter of your favorite book, or watched your first YouTube video, all in Japanese! You want a place to record this fantastic achievement... and now you can! First, be sure to enable Extra Credit for Native Materials. You can find that in your study settings under the Extra Credit Targets section.

Once enabled, clicking on the Native Materials section for Extra Credit on your dashboard will take you to the immersion tracker.

Initially, it'll look like this:

Don't fret, we'll fill it up right away! Head over to the New Project button. This will bring up a screen that lets you give your project a title, as well as whether it's a Reading, Watching, Listening or Playing sort of activity. Depending on how you like to categorize things and how much of each activity you do, you may want to create larger summary project groups. For example, if you watch a lot of different anime, you may want to just create a project titled アニメ as an overarching group. On the flip side, you can also be much more granular. Maybe you want to keep track of every book you read individually, in which case you could use the title of the book as the project title. It's all up to you!

Once you've created your project, you'll be brought back to the Native Materials project list. Now you can hit the Track button to add what you've done.

In here, you can choose the date, write down details for the activity, and then specify how long you spent on it.

You'll see it show up as an activity if you expand the project using the > symbol to the left of the Track button. Last tracked date and total time will also be calculated.

Keeping a solid log of your activities can give you a great sense of accomplishment and show you at a quick glance how far you've come. Here's an example of a log that's been kept for a while!
