Can I take a break during my studies?

Yes! If you're going on a trip or just need a breather for a bit, you can use Vacation Mode in NativShark to pause your studies.

Doing so will "freeze" your reviews. This prevents a review pile-up, making coming back to your studies a much smoother experience.

How do I use Vacation Mode?

You can activate Vacation mode by going to your Study Settings and hitting "Start Vacation" in the "Vacation Mode" section.

You can also navigate to your Study Settings by clicking on your name on the My Journey page, then going to "Settings", then "Study Settings".

Once activated, Vacation Mode will last for 21 days.

You can unpause Vacation Mode and return to your studies at any time during this by visiting your My Journey page and deactivating it via the banner that appears.

At the end of the 21 days, Vacation Mode will automatically end, and reviews will be assigned as normal. You'll get an email notification 7 days before giving you a warning!

You can activate and deactivate vacation mode however many times you want. Just be careful about the differences between vacation and not studying ^_^

Please note that vacation mode does not pause your subscription.

    Vacation Mode Stats

Time spent in Vacation Mode will show by default on the stats section of your My Journey page.

If you don't want this to show, you can turn it off in your Study Settings. Here's what the toggle looks like:

I just got back and didn't use Vacation Mode. What do I do?

If you have a break that causes you to forget some Japanese or have a review pileup, no worries! Things happen ^^

It's almost always best to get through your reviews as fast as possible. Getting a quick refresher and then going through new content is the easiest and most rewarding way to come back from a long break.

You'll remember things much faster than you think!
